Terms Of Use
These Terms of Use apply to the AcrossWord website and services operated by AcrossWord Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
If you use the site, create an account, purchase a subscription, submit feedback, or submit a puzzle, you agree to these terms.
Using The Site
Please use AcrossWord fairly and lawfully.
You must not:
- Misuse the site or interfere with its operation.
- Attempt to access administrative or restricted features.
- Scrape, copy, or extract large amounts of content or data from the site.
- Submit unlawful, offensive, misleading, copied, harmful, or infringing content.
- Attempt to bypass security measures or gain unauthorised access to systems or accounts.
We may change, suspend, remove, or introduce features at any time as the service develops.
Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to create an account or submit content.
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and should keep your sign-in details secure.
We may suspend, restrict, or permanently remove accounts that breach these terms, abuse the service, attempt to manipulate gameplay, interfere with other users, or otherwise pose a risk to AcrossWord or its community.
Fair Play
AcrossWord is intended to be a fair puzzle experience.
You must not use bots, scripts, automation tools, exploits, or other methods intended to manipulate scores, streaks, rankings, submissions, gameplay statistics, or other site features.
Puzzle Submissions
You must own the puzzle content you submit or have permission to submit it.
You remain the owner of your submitted puzzle content.
By submitting a puzzle, you grant AcrossWord a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to review, edit, publish, display, archive, distribute, and promote that puzzle as part of the AcrossWord service.
Submission does not guarantee publication, payment, contributor recognition, or Contributor of the Day credit.
We may edit clues, difficulty, wording, metadata, scheduling, or presentation before publication.
We may reject, remove, or archive submissions that are unsuitable, copied, offensive, too similar to existing puzzles, technically invalid, or otherwise inconsistent with the goals of the service.
Subscriptions
AcrossWord may offer optional paid subscriptions that provide access to additional features and content.
Current subscription pricing is displayed on the subscription page and may be updated from time to time.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next renewal date.
Payments, taxes, invoices, renewals, and checkout are handled by Paddle as merchant of record.
You may cancel a subscription at any time before renewal. Cancellation prevents future renewals but does not normally result in a refund of amounts already paid.
Refund requests are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy.
Intellectual Property
AcrossWord, its software, site design, branding, game formats, published puzzle collection, and related content are owned by AcrossWord, its licensors, or its contributors.
You may use the site and play the puzzles for personal, non-commercial use.
You must not copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, scrape, or commercially exploit any part of the site or puzzle database without permission.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Availability Of Service
We aim to keep AcrossWord available and functioning correctly, but we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
Features, content, puzzles, accounts, and subscription benefits may change over time as the service develops.
Liability
AcrossWord is provided on an "as available" basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AcrossWord Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive losses arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful.
Changes To These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time.
When we do, we will update the date shown at the top of this page. Continued use of AcrossWord after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute relating to these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
